What is DI?
Destination Imagination is an international, educational program that gives kids an amazing outlet for their creativity, while teaching them leadership, teamwork, positive thinking, project management, and so much more. Teams of two to seven kids from third grade through university level solve one of six open-ended challenges (Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Service Learning, Improvisation, or Technical) in their own unique ways, and present their solutions at regional tournaments in February or March. Teams also solve an on-the-spot Instant Challenge at the tournaments, where they must think quickly on their feet and work together to solve a problem in around five minutes. There's even a noncompetitive Rising Stars! category with a special challenge for K-2nd grade. Winners advance to the affiliate (state/country) tournament, and winners at the affiliate tournament move on to Global Finals to compete against teams from around the world. |
What is the Friends of Tosa DI?
We are a non-profit organization, founded in 2015. Our goals are to connect the Destination Imagination programs in different Wauwatosa schools; to encourage more kids to participate in DI; and to support and encourage all members of our DI community: team managers, school coordinators, parents, volunteers, and--most of all--students. Our organization provides Instant Challenge materials for all Tosa teams, as well as financial assistance for teams advancing to DI Global Finals. We also award an annual scholarship to a graduating senior who has participated in DI. |
